2025 is going to be a tough year for all of us. But we have each other to rely on and we have romance novels with their happily ever afters to comfort us, and we'll get through it together. I wish you kindness and love and joy in the new year, despite it all. And I hope you find lots of amazing books to read and lose yourself in. Some of my favorites of 2024 are below.
I've been thinking a lot about what to write in this post. Everyone has been sharing their accomplishments in 2024 (how many words written and books published...), and well...my year was not as full of accomplishments. 2024 did not go as I planned, to say the least. Long covid ruined just about every plan and goal I set for myself and left me frustrated and disappointed and angry. I didn't manage to publish one book, let alone the two I planned. *sigh* But I did work on To Know a Dragon Spy, and I'm making progress, so I'm holding on to that. I have book-related goals for next year, though I'm almost scared to put them out there. I will say that I plan to finish Dragon Spy and get it into your hands as soon as I can. And I plan to give myself all the grace and kindness I can as I do.

The Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook asks its members to share six sentence snippets from their work each weekend. Check out the group's Facebook page to read all the snippets and add lots of great books to your TBR. You'll find all sorts of books with the common thread that the main character identifies as LGBTQ. For December, I'm sharing snippets from The Merchant's Love. I haven't written a holiday romance (yet), but this one is as close I have. It's a cozy story of a bookish royal and a sweet merchant who become friends and fall in love over books and baked goods as fall turns to winter and the winter holiday arrives in Tournai. There's a bit of magic gone wrong too, but it's honestly a warm hug in book form. I've skipped ahead slightly in the same scene I've been sharing from. I'm sneaking in time between baking batches of cookies to write a quick holiday romance rec post, as has become my tradition. Last year, I did several posts broken up by sub-genre, this year, I just did not have the time. So, just one list time, filled with some favorites that I'm sure I've recommended before and others I might not have. I hope you find something to curl up with.

The Smashwords End of Year sale starts today and runs through January 1st, and all of my books are 50% off for the sale. It's a great time to try one of my books if you've been waiting or to catch up on anything you missed. You can find To Love the Dragon King here, and the Chronicles of Tournai and Elemental books over here. Happy reading! The stress leading up to the election and the upset after maybe? Who knows. In any case, I started and stopped reading a bunch of books, some because they weren't the right book at the time and some because they weren't for me at all. But I did read few new-to-me books that I enjoyed:
