The Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook asks its members to share six sentence snippets from their work each weekend (I'll beg forgiveness in advance for sometimes going over the sentence limit!). Check out the group's Facebook page to read all the snippets and add lots of great books to your TBR. You'll find all sorts of books with the common thread that the main character identifies as LGBTQ.
To Know a Dragon Spy will be out on June 25th and is available for preorder! Yay! This second book in the Dragons of Ivria series is a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers-ish romance that ties up some loose ends from the first books (and creates a couple more for book 3...). I've been sharing some snippets from Dragon Spy as I worked through edits, and this one picks up right after last week's.
“It is good to see His Majesty marrying at last,” Priscillian was saying. “Some despaired that it would ever happen.”
Lysander’s decision to have children when he came to the throne had been meant to mitigate calls for him to marry immediately, but it never really had. Though few expressed the view so directly to a member of the royal family as Priscillian, who used his age and his tenuous connection to the family to get away with it. Neither he nor Thalia would deign to reply.
“His choice of consort is...unorthodox,” Hugo said, “to say the least.”
Thalia’s fingers pressed harder into Felix’s arm, the only outward sign of her displeasure at the comment. Felix forced his face to remain set in polite lines. They’d dealt with curiosity about Sascha in their meander through the room but nothing coming so boldly close to disapproval.
