The Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook asks its members to share six sentence snippets from their work each weekend. Check out the group's Facebook page to read all the snippets and add lots of great books to your TBR. You'll find all sorts of books with the common thread that the main character identifies as LGBTQ.

I'm switching to snippets from The Spymaster's Secret this month. It's a book I had so much fun writing, and I don't think I've shared snippets from it in quite a while. Alexander is a flirtatious, charming young royal with hidden depths who develops an unexpected but not unwelcome attraction to a mysterious older widower. In turn, Marcus is fascinated by the vibrant Alexander, but as the Crown's spymaster, he knows being involved with him is dangerous. Marcus also can't seem to stop himself from becoming more entangled with Alexander even as he tracks a ring of spies and danger creeps up on Alexander. This week's snippet follows not long after last week's. Alexander asked Marcus to leave the masquerade ball and meet him. Marcus decides to go but just to tell Alexander they couldn't get involved. It doesn't turn out quite like he planned...

Dragon Romance Book Recs

1/26/2024

Appreciate a Dragon Day was earlier this month, so January seemed like an appropriate time to talk about dragon books. (Was this post supposed to go up on that holiday? ...Maybe. Oops.) I have always loved dragons, back from the days of buying Patricia C. Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles at the Scholastic Book Fair (still on my shelves), and probably before, and continuing on through many, many dragon and dragon shifter books and movies. I've cut this list down ruthlessly, mostly because I was getting utterly overwhelmed by the number of dragon books I've read, and am giving you a handful of dragon shifter/dragon romances. I'll have to do another post one day with others.

On January 18th, I'm so excited to be doing a virtual author chat with Janette Pardo, librarian at the Wayne Public Library. We'll be talking about writing, To Love the Dragon King, my upcoming projects, and probably some other things too (hopefully I won't embarrass myself too much!). I hope you can join us January 18th at 11am on Zoom (don't worry if you can't—the recording will be available later!). You can find more information and the Zoom link here.

ETA: You can find the recording of the chat here!

This snippet is from early in the book (and it's a bit longer than it should be—I'm not starting the year well, am I?).

My December Reading

1/3/2024

December went by in a flash (and dozens and dozens of cookies...), and though I already listed some of my favorite books of the year, I still wanted to do my usual post about last month's reading.( Especially since I read a ton in December and actually hit my reading goal for the year!) Some books were favorite holiday rereads but others were new to me. So, here are some books I enjoyed in December.
