This week's first kiss is Bastien and Corentin's in The Dragon's Devotion. Bastien is an earl who had to take the weight of the title and responsibility for his family on his shoulders young when his parents are killed in a sailing accident...which he finds out now might not have been an accident. As he takes on the task of finding out what really happened, he meets Corentin, a scholar with a secret. Corentin's magic allows him to transform into a dragon, and he's come to Tournai because of rumors that lead him to believe someone may have figured out the truth about the dragons. He shouldn't get involved with Bastien, but that doesn't stop him, and their relationship deepens as Bastien's unofficial investigation gets more dangerous. We're in Corentin's POV in this snippet.

He looked to Bastien and found him staring up at the painting, something in his face softened as if the mask of the earl had fallen away, giving a glimpse of Bastien the man. Corentin wanted more than a glimpse.
What was he doing? He shouldn’t be starting anything, but logic had little to do with any of this.
“Bastien.”
The word was little more than a whisper, but Bastien turned to him all the same, faint surprise coloring his features. He parted his lips, but whatever he was about to say was lost when Corentin bent and touched his mouth to his in a gentle kiss.
